  • Joseph J. Tierney, Jr. was inducted into ABOTA (American Board of Trial Advocates) on April 4, 2019.  ABOTA is dedicated to the highest ethical and technical standards of trial advocacy.  It is an invitation only organization, which only accepts attorneys who have completed at least 10 civil trials as lead counsel and who demonstrate high personal character and an honorable reputation.

  • YCRLAW is pleased to announce that D. Jay Davis, Jr. (Professional Liability:  Defense), Carol B. Ervin (Employment and Labor), and Shawn Daughtridge Wallace (Employment and Labor) have all been named 2019 Super Lawyers.  Matthew O. Riddle (Workers Compensation) has been named as a rising star.

  • The South Carolina Insurance Data Security Act went into effect on January 1.  Most insurance carriers and TPAs licensed in South Carolina (“licensees”) must be ready now to comply with a breach response plan.

    On July 1, 2019, all “licensees” are required to have a completed risk assessment and a written information security plan.  The requirements are extensive.

    Penalties for non-compliance can include revoking the carrier’s license to insure in South Carolina, so please make sure you are ready.  To learn more, please read our article here.

     

  • YCRLAW is pleased to announce that Michael A. Molony was unanimously reappointed as a City of Charleston Municipal Judge for a two year term by the Charleston City Council.

  • YCRLAW is pleased to announce the formation of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Law Practice Group.  Our attorneys are available for advisory services in these areas, as well as guidance and referrals when data is breached.  The group chair, Leslie Whitten, is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/US (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.  The CIPP is the global standard in privacy certification.

  • YCRLAW is pleased to announce that Perry M. Buckner, IV and Jason A. Daigle have been named Partners at our firm.  Perry practices primarily with the firm’s Professional Liability and Commercial Litigation groups.  Jason practices primarily in the firm’s Construction Practice Group.

  • YCRLAW is pleased to announce that Gaillard “Gilly” Dotterer, III has joined the firm as an Associate.  Gilly will practice primarily in the Professional Liability group.  Gilly obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School Of Law.  His undergraduate degree, in Business Administration, also was obtained from the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining YCRLAW, Gilly served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Doyet A. Early, III, Circuit Court Judge in the 2nd Judicial Circuit.

Developed and launched by the IAPP with leading subject matter experts, the CIPP is the world’s first broad-based global privacy and data protection credentialing program.
