Are You Prepared to Detect a Cyber Breach?

Leslie Whitten

The old adage said that “there are two kinds of companies: those who have been breached and those who will be breached”. The truer statement is that “there are two types of companies: those have been breached and those who don’t know they have been breached”.  On average, it takes businesses 46 days to determine that they are under attack.  By that time, a hacker has had plenty of time to access a company’s entire network.  And 46 days is just the average.  In the 2017 Equifax breach, in which a hacker obtained the personal data of more than half of Americans, the breach went undetected for 76 days.

If your organization has yet to step up its cyber threat intelligence efforts, now is the time.  According to Security Magazine, “attackers spend many years planning and developing their tools to break into systems.”  It is essential that your policies and training are up to date, and it’s essential that companies have a framework for threat prevention and detection.  For more information, please contact us.
