Alternative Dispute Resolution

South Carolina arbitration and mediation services

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group at Young Clement Rivers, LLP is composed of seasoned mediators and arbitrators who have a wealth of experience in personal injury litigation, commercial transactions, special litigation, and complex real estate transactions.

The group's experience covers all areas of litigation and dispute resolution, from domestic relations to workers compensation matters, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Act cases, trucking litigation, appellate mediation, commercial litigation, products liability litigation, and all other dispute resolution.

Goal of effective resolution of disputes

The group's goal is to achieve satisfactory resolution of controversies through the use of effective mediation skills, and to resolve controversies as efficiently as possible to reduce the emotional toll and financial expense associated with prolonged litigation. The ADR Practice Group is well versed in early neutral evaluation and early intervention through mediation, and enables parties and their attorneys to accurately assess the risks associated with the adversarial process. This, in turn, allows the parties to negotiate a well-reasoned, satisfactory settlement at an early stage, eliminating the risk of an adverse decision while at the same time reducing litigation costs and fees.

Trained South Carolina mediators and arbitrators

The Group's lawyers and support staff coordinate activities to provide an easy process for planning a mediation or arbitration for parties and their attorneys. The attorneys in the group represent a combined total of more than 50 years of mediation and arbitration experience, and more than 100 years of legal experience in their various areas of practice. Each of the attorneys in this practice area have extensive training in mediation. These attorneys handle mediation and arbitration in all geographic regions of the State.

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group participates in annual mediation and arbitration training, and includes among their members the chairman of the Supreme Court's Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution. This Commission is responsible for the promulgation of rules and regulations governing mediation in the South Carolina Court System, and initiates Court-annexed Alternative Dispute Resolution programs throughout the State.
