T. Douglas Concannon focuses his practice on the formation and operation of captive insurance companies.
He began his career working for the Florida Department of Commerce. After law school, he handled creditor bankruptcy, foreclosure, lender liability, and immigration cases for a small Columbia law firm.
He joined the South Carolina Department of Insurance as a Staff Attorney in 1996, where he was quickly promoted to Associate General Counsel. In addition to enforcing the State’s insurance laws, Doug served as the Department’s Receivership Administrator, managing the assets of insurance companies that became insolvent. In 2000, the Director of Insurance appointed him the Special Counsel for the Department’s new Alternative Risk Transfer Services Division.
