Karen W. Kerrison has been practicing as a commercial transactions attorney for over 25 years, representing developers, financial institutions, hospitals and healthcare systems, religious and nonprofit organizations, municipalities, state agencies and private businesses in the acquisition, financing, development, leasing and sale of commercial and industrial properties, and in the acquisition and sale of business assets and equity interests. She also prepares specialized contracts and leases for clients.
Prior to joining Young Clement Rivers, LLP she represented South Carolina hospital systems and regional provider groups in network and facility development, leasing, contracting and other transactions. She has served as in-house counsel for a national provider of acute respiratory care and home medical equipment services, and as a legal services officer for the Georgia Department of Medical Assistance.
She has also represented
- Private businesses ranging from financial services companies, industrial service providers, automobile dealerships, wine and beer importers, restaurants, inns and hotels, assisted living facilities, ambulatory care facilities, physician practices and other healthcare providers;
- Landlords and tenants in the preparation and negotiation of commercial leases for retail, office, warehouse and industrial properties, and long term ground leases for commercial, industrial and healthcare facilities;
- Municipalities in connection with developer conveyances and commercial easements for water and sewer systems, construction financing, contracts and other transactions;
- Local banks in complex commercial loan workouts.
She maintains an extensive database of customized forms for commercial transactions, including leases, real estate transactions, easements, mortgage loans, asset based and construction financing, loan workouts, business acquisitions and sales, and transfers of stock and other types of equity interests, allowing her to provide quality services in an efficient and cost effective manner.
