James T. H. Buxton is Corporate and Securities Special Counsel at Young Clement Rivers, LLP.  He serves as outside general counsel to clients on a wide range of transactional matters with a particular emphasis on small and medium-sized businesses in the technology sector.  His practice focuses on corporate transactions, related securities matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, entity formation, and startup, early stage and emerging growth issues.

He serves as a board member of the Charleston Digital Corridor Foundation and has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Charleston School of Law, teaching Mergers and Acquisitions. He is also active in the South Carolina Bar’s Corporate, Banking and Securities Section and is a board member of several other Charleston area and statewide community organizations.

Prior to joining the firm, he was an associate at Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta, Georgia and Hunton & Williams LLP in Richmond, Virginia. While in law school, he was the Associate Editor-in-Chief of the ABA Real Property, Probate & Trust Journal and received the CALI Award in International Business Transactions.
